As part of its J-Health program, the Jigawa State Government has given the green light for the permanent and pensionable employment of 1,124 healthcare professionals who were previously engaged on a contract basis. Alhaji Sagir Musa, the Commissioner for Information, Youths, Sports, and Culture, announced this significant development in a statement released on Friday in Dutse.

Musa highlighted that during its meeting on Thursday, the State Executive Council (SEC) deliberated and approved the employment initiative. He emphasized that the decision aligns with Governor Umar Namadi's commitment to enhancing the accessibility of affordable healthcare services across the state.

The SEC's approval also encompasses the allocation of N959.2 million for the salary and benefits of the 1,124 health workers. This group includes 924 employees of J-Health, comprising 20 nurses, 40 doctors, 30 pharmacists, and 200 medical staff. The beneficiaries extend to twenty biological lab scientists, fifteen community health workers, ten dental therapists, ten physiotherapists, and five medical imaging specialists, along with forty licensed nurses and midwives.

Additionally, ten science laboratory technicians and personnel from other relevant sectors will be deployed to the 281 primary health centers situated throughout the state. Musa noted that the confirmation of the 924 J-Health ad hoc status is contingent upon an examination to be conducted by the state Ministry of Health.

In a strategic move, the council has also sanctioned the engagement of 1,000 individuals who are natives and have studied health-related courses into the J-Health scheme. These new engagements are intended to replace those individuals who have secured permanent employment. This comprehensive approach underscores the state's commitment to strengthening its healthcare workforce and delivering quality services to the community.
