Mannie Money, formerly associated with Portable, recently opened up about battling depression after WizKid reportedly gifted their mutual colleague, God Over Everything (GOE), a substantial sum of 20 million naira for praising the Afrobeats legend in a song.
According to Mannie Money, WizKid's generosity towards GOE, the renowned Ta Ta Ta crooner, triggered his emotional struggle, leading him to share his feelings on social media. In his post, Mannie Money expressed his ongoing state of depression, attributing it to what he perceived as an unfair distribution of recognition and rewards.
Mannie Money clarified that he, along with Bolisco and GOE, had collectively invested effort into the creation of the mentioned song. However, only one of them received financial acknowledgment from WizKid. In his perspective, had the money been distributed differently, with Mannie Money as the recipient, he would have ensured that each of his collaborators, Bolisco and GOE, received a fair share of the funds, allocating 5 million naira to each.
This revelation not only sheds light on the complexities within the music industry but also raises questions about the equitable distribution of recognition and financial rewards among collaborators. The emotional toll experienced by Mannie Money highlights the challenges artists may face in navigating the dynamics of acknowledgment and compensation within the competitive realm of the music business.
